He began his coaching in 1998 with the NBA's Sacremento Kings. In 2000, Scott was head coach of the New Jersey Nets team, with a struggle. The next season, Scott was able to lead the New Jersey Nets with a record of 52 wins!
But then in 2003-04, Scott was fired.
In 2005, he became the head coach of the New Orleans Hornets. In 2007-08, they won their first season. Then a few months after, he was awarded the 2007-08 Coach of the Year Award!
